Meet Jo

Hey, I’m Jo — the Joy behind Rae of Joy Photography (and the one crouching, laying on the ground, or backing up into a bush to get the shot).

I was born and raised in Idaho, which means I’m a country girl by default and allergic to taking life too seriously. I grew up around open land, hard work, and people who show up for each other — and that’s exactly how I approach photography.

I’m also a Marine Corps veteran, so I bring discipline, structure, and a strong sense of responsibility. What that really means is I show up prepared, on time, and stay calm when things go sideways (because they always do).

Photography is my passion. I genuinely love capturing real moments — the laughs, the in-between stuff, the unplanned magic — and I’m fully invested in making sure you leave your session feeling confident, comfortable, and maybe wondering why photos weren’t always this easy.

Based in Idaho, fueled by good light, bad jokes, and a deep appreciation for authenticity.
